Oral Rehabilitation

Oral health is key to overall health and quality of life.

  • Dental implants: one of the best ways to replace missing teeth, restoring natural function.
  • Wisdom tooth removal: may be needed if there is crowding, repeated infections, or pain. Sometimes, removal is recommended even without symptoms to prevent future problems.

Before Surgery

  • Do all requested scans and tests.
  • Stop smoking 2–4 weeks before and after surgery.
  • Follow your doctor’s advice on medications.
  • If general anesthesia is used, fast for 8 hours.
  • Arrange for someone to take you home after surgery.
  • Follow any extra instructions given by your doctor.

After Surgery

  1. Gauze: bite on it for 45 minutes to stop bleeding.
  2. Swelling and pain: expected for 2–3 days, then improves.
  3. Cold packs: use on your cheek in the first 24 hours.
  4. Rinsing: avoid rinsing for the first 48 hours, then start gentle saltwater rinses.
  5. Diet: soft, cool foods like soup, yogurt, non-acidic juices. Avoid hot foods and chewing on the surgery side.
  6. Oral hygiene: brush gently with a soft brush, away from the surgery area.
  7. Medications: take painkillers and antibiotics as prescribed.
  8. Avoid harmful habits: no smoking and no straws for at least a week.
  9. Activity: gradually return to daily activities; recovery is usually 2–7 days depending on the procedure.
  10. Call your doctor if:
  • Severe pain not relieved by medicine
  • Increasing swelling
  • Heavy or unusual bleeding
  • Movement of an implant
